I will be on a business trip for the coming two weeks. The first week is at our headquarters in Ft. Lauderdale, the second week I’ll be attending a training in San Jose for one of our new products.
As I’m a huge fan of American sports, I certainly wanted to visit a sports event in Florida. With the Panthers out of town next week, a visit to a hockey game was not an option. That left me to a choice between the Miami Heat and the Florida Marlins. And that wasn’t an easy choice.
First, a NBA game is much more lively than a MLB game. More action going on, cheerleaders and we wouldn’t have to worry about the weather. Going to baseball on the other hand is much more a leisure activity, watch some guys hit a ball, but mainly have a good time with friends.
Second, the Miami Heat didn’t have their best season ever and that’s a huge understatement. Quite frankly, they suck big time this season. And while I’m not supporting the Heat or the Hornets, it would impact the impression I would get from the event.
On the other hand, the new baseball season has just begun, so there are no mental or motivation issues with the Marlins yet. And they played pretty good during pre-season, which indicates nothing but is good for morale. Also, they play the Mets, which I consider to be one of the contenders for the National League.
In the end we decided to go to the NY Mets vs Florida Marlins game next Wednesday. We got pretty good seats and I’ll bring along my camera to shoot some pictures. I’m really looking forward to it, as I’ve never been to a MLB game before.
