Going 1-15 certainly isn’t something to be proud of, but I didn’t expect Cam Cameron would be fired because of it. A coach has to work with the material that has been given to him and the results this year can be contributed to a lot of different things.
First, a total mismanagement of the previous drafts leaving the team without depth. The bad line-up didn’t just happen overnight, it took years of screwing up. That’s why it wasn’t a big surprise when GM Randy Mueller was fired.
Second, there has been a lot of bad luck this season for the Dolphins. The number of key players on the injury reserve list would leave any team struggle, but with a bad roster like the Dolphins have it’s a disaster. Ronnie Brown, Trent Green, Zach Thomas and Ricky Williams could’ve helped this team. The Dolphins lost some unneccessary games and those players might have helped them through. Not that the Dolphins would’ve had a winning season, but the agony of almost going 0-16 would’ve been prevented in October.
Sure, something needed to be done. But the main focus for Parcells should be on getting quality into the roster. I’m sure Cam Cameron would’ve been a good, solid coach for the Dolphins next year. But it’s good for the rumors, the comments are open for some good suggestions. Most likely now, Tony Saprano who has talks with the Falcons on Friday. Nah, the Dolphins wouldn’t snatch another one from the Falcons, would they?
